What is OP1C?
Our goal is simple, though it might take us awhile to achieve: we want to give one PC to 1 child (OP1C). Then we want to repeat that process for every other child in America.
You might ask, "Why?". As technology is integrated into every facet of our lives, it becomes necessary that a healthy country have a strong footing in technology. While the US was once a pioneer in the technology industry, we're now lagging behind other countries. Computer Science and Computer Engineering enrollment is dropping, and we risk losing our competitive advantage.
We have the solution. Examine the childhood of almost every person that is succesful and excited about technology. You'll find a common thread: early exposure to computers. We at OP1C are prime examples. We didn't get excited about technology because we took a typing class in fourth grade, we got excited about technology because we could tinker with the computer at home. Unfortunately, not every kid in the US is lucky enough to be able to afford a computer. That's where we come in.
